Happy Birthday Uncle Chris!
My little brother turns 30 today! Have a great time!
As an aside, I'm almost exactly the same age as Seth is now in that picture.

Strike up the band!
Tonight we went to the Long Beach Municipal Band concert at Los Cerritos park. These summer concerts have probably gone on as long as most of us can remember.
Little known fact: my Grandfather was the French Horn player for the Long Beach Municipal Band for many years. It was, in fact, his paid career. A different era than the band today with its short season supported by the listeners (and volunteer band members!). See my granddaddy here with my mom (the younger) and aunt (I believe these photos were taken at their house in Wrigley around 1950):
Tonight at the concert, my boys:
See you at the park!

Comparing Sibs
Sleeping:
Audrey falls asleep easiest
Davis does ok sometimes
Seth is almost impossible to get to sleep
Eating:
Davis has taken to eating like a pro, not sure how much he would eat if I let him.
Audrey is starting to get into it
Seth wouldn't eat solid food until he could pick it up and eat it himself
This is how I know all the books about feeding solids to your baby are all wrong. It doesn't matter how old they are, or how many teeth they have, or how big they are, or whether they are a boy or girl, because none of these factors mattered at all to my kids. Both Seth and Davis are boys, had multiple teeth and were big by their 6 month birthday; Davis eats, Seth didn't. Audrey still has no teeth (Davis has 6) and is smaller, but she certainly eats more than Seth did. So I stick to my theory that babies eat what they want, when they want to. (Much like adults)
Thumbsucking:
Seth sucked (and still sucks) all the time
Audrey sucks only when tired
Davis wonders why anyone would do anything so ridiculous as put their thumb in their mouth, and proceeds to soak his blanky by sucking on it madly when tired.
Pooping:
Ok, you knew we had to get here. Those who are grossed out by graphic descriptions of baby poo, avert your eyes now, we will see you next time.
In the beginning:
Audrey pooped about every 20 minutes (no joke)
Seth pooped every time he ate (about every 2 hours) often while eating
Davis pooped also about every 2 hours, but usually about 30 minutes after eating, right after he'd fallen asleep. Not very convenient.
Later on:
Both Audrey and Seth went to pooping once a day around 4 months, but boy was that once an explosion! In both cases I would avoid leaving the house if they hadn't pooped in 24 hours.
Davis also went to once or twice a day, but managed to keep it in his diaper usually. Now that everybody is eating solids (at least a little bit) the pooping is much more under control! Yay!
Maybe we'll revisit poo after potty training :) but for now, Mommy is signing off.

Wildly HOT Animal Park
So my dad wanted to go to the Wild Animal Park for his birthday. So we loaded up (2 cars mind you) and went. We did manage to have some fun on the tram ride, but as the thermometer topped 102, we were truly melting. If we put the babies in the stroller they sweat so much I was really getting worried. So we ran by the ice cream place and went home. Next time we'll check the weather first.
