Long Beach is putting on several free movies in the park this summer, so we went to see Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs at Wardlow park. It was pretty nice out, and we saw about 1/2 the movie before all three decided it was time to go home. Oh there was also free popcorn. The kids were very happy about that!
Trials and tribulations of our family, with rants from Mom and pics of the family, as we navigate life with 3 kids less than two years apart!

OC Fair
Even with the case of very unfortunate timing, we had a pretty good time at the fair. It turns out it doesn't open until 12:00 on weekdays, and A and D usually nap around 12:30. So they were pretty much tired as soon as we got started. The very nice thing was that is was, for the first time I ever remember, not too hot at the fair, it was actually quite pleasant, so I wished we could have stayed longer. Oh well. We saw lots of cute animals, and Davis posed by the strawberry plants (if you've ever seen Davis eat strawberries you know why). Audrey also got her face painted. She very decisively skipped all the beautiful butterfly eyes etc to pick a pink whale. She really likes getting her face painted and it is quite an ordeal to get her to let me wash it off at the end of the day. Seth and Davis both have no desire whatsoever. Which is fine, since it was not cheap! We didn't make it on any rides, or over to the exotic animal petting zoo... but maybe next time!

Daddy's busy
Jeff took a weeklong woodworking class where he made a rocking chair. It is beautiful and I look forward to rocking away on it for a long time. Its not finished yet, and it will be a night and weekend project for a few months at least, but you can see it as it is now below. The pictures show the progress through the week. I'll update when its all the way finished.
Nature
Seth took a little class at the Nature Center last week, each morning for an hour and a half learning about squirrels. While he was in class the kids and I explored the center. We spent one day with our wonderful new neighbors (Alida was in the class with Seth, Linn and Kim spent the time with us.) The kids always love it there, although the mile walk is just a little too long for them. By the time we are nearing the end they are dead tired, but excited to play in the little museum with the bones and snakes and stuff. Next year A and D will be old enough to take the class, they are excited, maybe I will get to walk the 2 mile trail!

Sink or Float?
At Seth's school they often play "sink or float" so Seth wanted to play at home, and he was having a great time. Then I built a boat out of tin foil which really threw him off, but he was still having lots of fun!

Riding Bikes in the Park
Right now all three kids are doing great riding their bikes. And they are all about the same speed (Audrey's a bit slower, but she's getting there "building muscles mommy!") We like to take the bikes to the park and last time the courts were empty so the three of them were riding around in circles, singing and generally having a good time.

More Swim!
A few more swim lesson pix, finally got Seth. The picture at the bottom is from last week when it was so cold Audrey would turn blue. So we put her on Davis's lap. I uploaded videos of the swimming you can check out here and here.

Swim Lessons
Seth is there too, he just keeps hiding from the camera. I try not to lurk in order to let them pay attention, and Seth always ducks below the edge of the pool when I come near, I will try again next week. Mostly they are having a good time. The first pic is from the first day, and Davis was unhappy at the very beginning, but got over it quickly. Audrey is a little unhappier towards the end of the week and even now as she is looking at these pictures she is saying the water is too cold. But I have borrowed a wet suit for her, so we will try that tomorrow, and hopefully she wont be quite as blue. To see Seth swimming visit last year's post here.
