Where are we now?

I haven't been updating lately, but I thought I'd let you all know what life is like today, 11-2-12, at home.
Our new french doors in the back.  Beautiful.

Looking in.

Back of the house, wrapped and ready for stucco.

Our house within a house.  The new construction to the left, the old half of a chimney to the right.

Down the side, inside the new, outside of the old.

From here one will be able to see the inside of my front door.  Eventually.

The pole, still there.  With some added ceiling holes.

Bathroom, window gone, holes in the wall and ceiling paint peeled.

Kids room, old window moved new window in.

Other window in their room, plus that piece of plywood to the left covering a large hole.

Office.  Had to remove the interior wall after engineering inspection.

Office ceiling holes.

Our room.  New window and closet doors.

New window, hole to the right where wiring goes to and from the new electrical panel on the outside.

Another interior wall removed after inspection.

My skylight.  No, not intentional.

Kitchen ceiling.  Light has been hanging like that for months.  Jeff assures me it wont fall on my head.  Hasn't yet!

Can't really see from the picture, but this window has no glass.  That was ok for the last few months, but I think we're going to have to cover it up soon.

Ta Da!  The only untouched (even improved!) room.  New smaller window and new tile.

Front porch, wrapped and ready.

New front walk, getting there.

The view from the sidewalk.

The view from across the street.  You can see the roof! Yay for roofs!

Backyard Trenches

The next step was pouring foundations in the back.  The house will push out about 6 feet back, and 4 feet to the side.  Also, there will be a porch on the back.  In order to pour foundations, you have to dig trenches.  Pinky fell in once, and Davis fell in once, and there was a LOT of mud when it rained, but it all seems to have turned out ok.

Porch

Old porch gone (December)
Forming the porch, before the pour
New porch!

View toward the front door, new door will be a little closer than the old door.

Rocks that will eventually cover porch and walkway

Us enjoying it!

New windows!

Well, the front of the house has a new skin (plywood sheeting, nothing finishied), here is the process.  We also got new windows on the front and side, and (not pictured) a new water main!
Garage with no walls
Can see right through it!

House with no skin

New bathroom window.  Used to be a huge (where the tape is) window.  Just what you want  in your shower at the front of the house. This is much improved.

Kids window, over to the right and down.  Better suited to the room.

Other window, not much change.

New window in my room, from narrow long, to really big.  Now I need to plant something out there.

Looking through where our new front door will be to the old (still current) front door.

Windows from the out side.

House view with partial skin.

Get ready for a lot of house posts

Over the next several months, there will be many of these.  Hopefully someday you will see pictures of the end result!
The process is ugly
